The Guide to Community Preventive Services addresses the effectiveness
of community-based interventions for three strategies to promote tobacco

is a guide to help the individual think about why he or she smokes,
the benefits of stopping, preparing to stop, knowing what to expect,

questions on cigarette stimulation, handling, accentuation of pleasure,
reduction of negative feelings, and psychological addiction and habit.
A self-scoring method is included for self-evaluation to determine reasons

- I Mind Very Much If You Smoke, is a booklet that gives facts
about secondhand smoke and gives suggestions on how to say no to secondhand

- Smoking: Facts and Quitting Tips For Black Americans, is a
pamphlet that gives facts about health risks and statistics of smoking
with Black Americans; 1992.To help provide help for those trying to
quit tobacco a national network of quit lines will be available to everyone.
By providing one national quit line HHS hopes to enhance already existing
quitting programs by extending their hours, hiring bilingual staff,
or building referral links with local care systems. For those areas
without an existing program funds will be provided to help build and
staff a new quit line office. The national quit line is currently available
in all areas Monday through Friday from 8-4:30 in both English
and Spanish at 1-877-44U-QUIT (1-877-448-7848), and via internet at
www.cancer.gov/newscenter/NationalQuitline.
